According to UCISA, it involves the activities of logging, recording and resolving cases. These skills are obtained through Training. In order to complete this exercise successful, it is very appropriate to be able to differentiate between an occurrence and a problem.

This is because the approach used to resolve the two are different. An event is used to describe a situation where an error has occurred and requires a quick intervention. When these happenings occur in a couple of times, the situation is referred to as a problem and a permanent solution is imminent.

They also originate from the administration of the databases as a result of configuration issues, from the solutions of other error detected earlier, from the consumers themselves when they request for change and also from the overall administration team who are aware of the existence of a known problem.

The next procedure requires that the one maps out the way they are going to correct the error. This step requires that certain things should be taken into consideration. Some of these things include; how to inform and explain to the administration to provide resources to undertake the process, how it will impact on the general running of things, how to consult in order to get other ideas to correct the error.

The third step will be carrying out various activities that are geared to achieving the objectives set above. These activities may involve; thorough investigation and analysis of the event, determining the origin, the ownership and how to monitor the occurrence and lastly resolving and reviving the service back to initial state.

The final process is to always present the discoveries made to the executive team and advise them on them on the best way to go about implementing them. One way to do this is to involve the staff through offering to train them to be well prepared to do as require by the changes to be introduced. Major Support from the executive will help to a great extent promote the successful implementation of the recommendations.

Incident management training is very crucial to the running of a business.
